For Parents
What are your hopes for your child?
As a parent or guardian you want the best for your child and watching them struggle with
the challenges of adolescence can make you feel that these hopes are out of reach.
You might even feel scared, wondering what’s going on in your young person’s mind. Sometimes a child struggling can impact the dynamics of the entire family, making everyone feel off-balance and confused. It can be a challenge to live in this complex world. Sometimes, the problems are obvious and hard to ignore, and at other times you and your teen might not even know what's causing them to act out, withdraw or seem disconnected from themselves and you.
It can be confusing and overwhelming for them - and for you as a caregiver.
Adolescence is a time of great transformation and potential. It's a period of significant physiological, cognitive and social growth - second only to early childhood. When mental health struggles show up, working with a professional
can be helpful. Getting therapy for your teen is helping to equip them with the tools to move forward with courage, confidence and compassion. Therapy provides a safe space for your young person to get support because
the truth is, we all need help sometimes.
